The Critical Difference
Traditional medical gauze relies entirely on the patient's native coagulation cascade to stop severe bleeding. In cases of massive trauma, hypothermia, or coagulopathy, the body's natural clotting process is severely impaired, causing standard cotton gauze to fail when rapid hemostasis is needed most.
ChitoGauze® PRO by HemCon® addresses this critical limitation. It is a premium Z-folded medical gauze uniformly impregnated with chitosan—a naturally occurring, biocompatible polysaccharide. The robust chitosan coating interacts directly with red blood cells to form an immediate, localized physical seal and clot directly within and on the dressing, stopping severe arterial and venous hemorrhage independently of the body's clotting cascade.
